DESCRIPTION

Distance from Chișinău: 87 km Location: Călărași district, Răciula village In the yard of the Stegărescu family we have found a small bee kingdom – a garden full of beehives, even the house looking like a museum of honey. Once you reach there, the householders will guide you on a trip to the secrets of producing honey and will explain to you the medical effects of the products: honey, pollen, wax and bee glue. Here you can see how bees work, through a hive that has its walls made of glass. You can also find a wide range of qualitative bee products, with the possibility to taste the acacia honey.  You can also taste honey with pollen, nuts, honey in beech, homemade wine and traditional mead – an alcoholic beverage that is prepared by fermenting honey with water. After years of hard work and heavy investments, the Stegărescu family managed to combine the beekeeping with the rural tourism, even if this is considered to be an underdeveloped branch in Moldova. The beekeepers have 130 beehives and a suitcase crammed with knowledge and ideas – all this in order to promote this sector. In the “House of Honey”, also called the “Bee Museum”, visitors can follow the activity of bee colonies through the glass walls of a beehive. Also, everyone can taste bee products in a specific room, called the Casa Mare room, on the walls of which you can notice photos that were sent by the tourists, also diplomas and traditional towels of over 100 years ago. The guide will let you know about the miraculous effects of the honey: “All natural honey, apart from the locust one, is crystallized. This is a natural phenomenon that takes place due to the fructose and glucose. The honey crystallizes quickly if it is being placed in a cool place. We want people to know, to understand and not to flee from the crystallized honey, considering it bad.”
