The museum house of “Alexei Mateevici”

Thousands of tourists annually visit the museum house from the Zaim village, Căușeni district – which happens to be the place where the poet Alexei Mateevici has spent his childhood. His personality has brought an enormous contribution to the development of culture – as he composed the Moldovan anthem “Limba Noastră”. In the house you can notice sequences that involve his spiritual life, also studies of history and theology that remain an inexhaustible source of knowledge for all the Moldovan generations.

Distance from Chișinău: 72 km Alexei Mateevici was also involved in the spiritual life, as a priest, continuing to write works of history and theology. They have remained a source of knowledge for all the generations of Moldovan people. Knowing more languages, A.Mateevici has translated several classics’ works of Romanian literature. The house from Zaim is situated close to the village church that was built by the father of the poet, priest Mihail Mateevici. In 1990, in the courtyard of the museum house, a monument of the poet was erected. When visiting the place, you can also notice an image of the poet, placed in the front of the house.   The official opening of the museum house was held on 26th of March, 1988, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Alexei Mateevici. The museum's founders are Ion Gaina and Mihail Moraru. The museum consists of six exhibition halls. In these rooms you can admire various works of art and sculptures, photographs and documents, household items and rare books of the XIX-XX centuries, also a few kinds of furniture from the same period.
