Distance from Chişinău: 195 km Estimated time: 2h 45 min The Butești geological rocks coating from the Glodeni district have formed 15-20 million years ago in the warm tropical waters of the Sarmatian Sea. The Camenca River dug a picturesque canyon in the limestone reefs. Here, a natural cave was formed, which, since the ancient times was inhabited, human settlements being identified around 300,000 years ago. There is also a legend concerning this place. It is about the brother of the Lithuanian King, Swidrighelo, who took refuge in the caves of this rock, while being pursued by its rivals to the throne. He was found there by a peasant girl who was taking care of a flock of sheep around the reef.  He was saved by the girl and her father,  who was a farmer, and in whose house were staying two messengers who had the mission to kill Swidrighelo. The house was set on fire that night, together with the two messengers inside it. Swidrighelo then went back to his home, but did not forget his rescuers. The girl was taken to the royal court in Lithuania and her father, Neagu, became the most wealthy sheep farmer in the region.
