The „Duruitoarea Gorge” natural reservation

DESCRIPTION

The grotto is carved into the rock above the village at a height of 33 meters. The most spectacular ones are the limestone cliffs, endowed with grottoes of different sizes, which makes this valley of the Duruitoarea river a perfect place to rest. The beautiful cave near the village of Old Duruitoarea is a former human settlement from the historical period. It has three rooms with a length of 49 meters, and a width of 5-9 meters. In one of the caverns, debris of animals, fragments of tools and traces of the primitive human of 250-300 thousand years ago were discovered. Among the many objects that were found here, we can mention the debris of bones of bison, rhinoceros and noble deers, weapons of bone, stone hunting objects, working tools, amulets and ornaments, peaks of spears, ivory pendants of mammoth and teeth of reindeer. Even if the reserve is one of the earliest human settlements from our country, it is still in the proper condition for accommodating creatures, especially the birds that build their nests in this region. The gorge of the „Jurassic Park”. A few meters away, to the left of the cave, the narrow steep slope is leading to an interesting reminiscent gorge that is reminding of the science fiction movie “Jurassic Park” ( resemblance originally suggested by the StiriPozitive.eu editorial). The warm waters of the overflowing river are slowly merging with the Ciugur one. The bizarre shapes of the rocks are inducing our thoughts into history, where our ancestors were hunting in these places. The limestone cliffs, endowed with grottoes of different sizes, make this valley of the Duruitoarea river a perfect place to rest. The rocky massif, part of the Prut toltrels, creates a prehistoric atmosphere in this deep gorge, which seems to be preserved for millenniums.
