The ''PURCARI'' Winery

Purcari has a long history of winemaking tradition, with its cellars remaining unchanged since 1827. The cellars are are among the oldest and most famous in Moldova and it attracts wine lovers from all-over the world. It is located in the southeastern part of the country, in Purcari micro zone, the fertile and rich in calcium soil of which, in combination, creates optimal conditions for producing exceptional wines, especialy red wines typical of this region.    Stefan Voda district, Purcari village.    Distance: 130 km far from Chisinau



"Purcari" Winery is the oldest winery in Moldova being founded in 1827. It has a reach historical heritage, producting some of the genuine Moldovan wines, "Negru de Purcari" and "Rosu de Purcari". In the Stefan Voda district you can find the legendary Purcari cellars where there is stored a part of the heritage of Moldova - famous colection of Purcari blended wines. On the territory you can see the mansion - designed in the style of French chateau, tennis courts, a playground for children and two small lakes. Here, the territory is favourable for grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Saperavi, Chardonnay and Rara Neagra (a Moldovan indigenous red grape variety) used both in varietals and blends.  Since 2003, Purcari estate has been extended to include wine tourism services such as a boutique hotel with 8 charming rooms, a wine tasting room, restaurant, two lakes, tennis court and a children’s recreation area. According to the study of PPM Consulting - Ukranian rating agency, Purcari is the most expensive brand of the Republic of Moldova (excepting state-owned enterprises) and is estimated at 17 million US dollars). Since 2003, the high quality refined taste of Purcari wines has brought more than 80 awards, won at various specialized contests and international wine tastings.
